Thud!…

…the sound of coming back to earth…

…whoosh!…

…reality rushing back in…

Yes, that means the holiday is over..the long weekend is gone and it’s back to the daily grind…

Jindi packed me into Larry bright…well, maybe not bright…but early, definitely early…yesterday morning and we set off for a bit of a commute to work in the afternoon…a mere five hour drive…

Aunt Pitty Pat asked wehre the food and quilts were on our weekend adventure.  Well, the food was average and boring (except for the excellent fish and chips in Port MacDonnell) because I just did the self-catering thing, yawn! so nothing to report there but…drum roll please…ta dah! I managed to finish a quilt!!!  I know, it’s astounding but true…and here it is…

The obsession flannel quilt is now a done deal and has already been test driven and yep, it is quite warm and toasty.  It’s not a huge affair, would probably qualify as a lap quilt but it works quite well.  It is quilted very simply with straight lines in a pretty King Tut variegated neutral colour.  (Sorry about bad photo.  Lighting at the moment is woeful and the new type light bulbs are dreadful…the light they throw is about 2 candles).

So there it is…I actually managed an OPAM finish for June before the month was half over (I finished sewing the binding down on Saturday – or was it Sunday – anyhow, before the 15th so I’m sticking to the before half over story)…

The keeper of the weather control knobs has definitely turned the one marked “winter” up to full and thrown in rain and wind for good measure to go with the cold, just the right weather for a nice little flannel quilt to help keep the chills at bay.

This week sees Friday Night Sew-In for June, wonder if I can achieve two OPAMs in one month?  OK, that is putting on a bit too much pressure…maybe I’ll just aim for actually putting in more than two stitches…

Happy sewing…
