Derwent Goes to OPAM…

Second OPAM finish for May done and dusted.  I finished sewing down the binding on Derwent the Dragon at sewing group this morning.  It’s amazing what can be achieved by actually turning up to sewing group!!  I have to get back into the Monday morning group habit.  So here is the small quilt all finished…

And here is a close up of the blue Derwent in the centre…

This project was started in a class at Patchworks Unlimited in Pascoe Vale yonks ago…the kit contained the dragons and fabric to complete the nine blocks – don’t you just love the Kaffe stripes for the stage curtains.  The dragons were pre-cut ready to be ironed on and blanket stiched down.  The tummys were separate pieces that could be “popped out” and moved around between the dragons and grayish black seed beads for his eyes finished him off.  The sashing fabric was a find in Rochester almost as many yonks ago…things move slowly in my world.  Finding the binding fabric in Maldon last week was the catalyst to get it moved from a top to a finished quilt.  The quilting is simply ditched around the blocks and straight lines on the sashing creating grids at the intersections.

Now, what is next….

Happy Sewing…
